Indian Railways Seeks Financial Details for Enhanced Housekeeping Services on Vande Bharat Trains in Northern and East Central Zones

Indian Railways is planning better cleaning services for Vande Bharat trains and has asked for cost details from two railway zones.



Indian Railways is looking to improve cleaning services on Vande Bharat trains. The Ministry of Railways has requested financial information from the Northern and East Central Zones on this matter.

The ministry sent a letter to the general managers of these zones on November 20, 2025. They wanted to know the costs involved in bringing in a complete on-board housekeeping service to ensure passengers have a clean and comfortable journey.


For passengers, this means a more enjoyable travel experience. The ministry has asked for replies by November 25, 2025, to move forward with the proposal. Currently, Vande Bharat trains are known for their high standards of cleanliness and service.

Northern Railway suggested a staffing plan where there would be one housekeeping staff for every two coaches. They also proposed adding more staff for sleeper trains to maintain cleanliness effectively.


Next, the East Central Railway Zone has also made suggestions for cleaning staff based on the heavy usage of their trains. They are working with the ministry to ensure passengers enjoy a tidy and pleasant environment during their journeys.
