Indian Railways to Run Over 12,000 Special Trains for Diwali and Chhath, Enhancing Connectivity from Major Cities

Indian Railways is launching over 12,000 special trains for the upcoming festivals, including Diwali and Chhath, to help passengers travel conveniently.



Indian Railways has announced a big update for travelers during the festive season. With festivals like Diwali and Chhath coming up, they will run special trains to accommodate the heavy passenger demand.

These special trains will connect major cities like Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur to places like Gorakhpur and Samastipur. In total, more than 12,000 trains will be made available to ensure smooth travel for everyone.


Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw mentioned that four new Amrit Bharat trains will start running on routes including Delhi-Gaya and Muzaffarpur-Hyderabad. Additionally, travelers can expect a new Vande Bharat train between Purnia and Patna soon.

Passengers traveling between October 13 to 26, 2025, can enjoy a 20% discount on return fares if they travel between November 17 and December 1, 2025. Other infrastructure projects, like foot overbridges and new rail links, are also in the pipeline.


Officials from the Agra rail division have confirmed that many special trains will be added for the festivals. They are also increasing the number of coaches in some trains to ensure everyone has a comfortable journey during this busy time.
