Indian Railways has announced an update for the Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express train, which started running just a few months back. This train was launched by the Prime Minister on June 6, 2025, and is operated by the Northern Railway.
The train, numbered 26401/26402, covers a distance of 191 kilometers in about 3 hours. Earlier, it only stopped at Banihal during its journey between Katra and Srinagar, but now there’s a new halt.
From October 29, 2025, the Vande Bharat Express will also stop at Reasi station for two minutes in both directions. This change is made to help the passengers traveling from the Reasi district, which is a popular spot for tourists and pilgrims.
The Katra-Srinagar train leaves Katra at 8:10 AM and reaches Srinagar by 11:08 AM. On the return trip, it departs from Srinagar at 2:00 PM and arrives back in Katra at 4:58 PM. This schedule allows for a convenient travel experience for the passengers.
With the addition of the new stoppage at Reasi, the train aims to accommodate the increasing number of travelers. Passengers can look forward to a more accessible train service starting later this month.
