Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit West Bengal for two days, starting from Saturday. He will kick off the visit by launching India’s first sleeper Vande Bharat train service from Malda to Guwahati, which is a significant development for the state.
On Saturday, PM Modi will arrive in Malda around 12:45 PM. He will inaugurate the sleeper service and also flag off the Amrit Bharat Express that runs between Malda and Kamakhya. After this, he will lay the foundation for various railway and road projects costing over ₹3,250 crores.
On Sunday, Modi will be in Singur, Hooghly district, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation for projects worth around ₹830 crores. He will also flag off seven new Amrit Bharat trains, enhancing rail connectivity for Bengal with other states.
Singur is historically important as it was the center of protests against land acquisition during the Left Front government, led by Mamata Banerjee. PM Modi’s visit aims to energize the BJP’s campaign ahead of the upcoming elections in the state.
This visit is Modi’s sixth to Bengal since May last year. It follows a series of significant projects he has announced during previous visits, which have focused on improving infrastructure and transportation in the region.
