Recently, the Katihar railway division received new train services, including the Vande Bharat sleeper trains and Amrit Bharat trains. Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Vande Bharat sleeper train from Malda to Howrah-Guwahati. The event saw many local leaders and citizens, including MP Tariq Anwar and former Deputy CM Tarkishore Prasad, at the Katihar railway station.

As a special offer, passengers were given free tickets to Bengaluru by the railway administration. They just needed to show their Aadhaar cards to get these tickets. Local leaders praised the central government’s achievements in improving railway services, noting the ongoing enhancements under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.


New weekly trains have been introduced to ease ticket demand for major cities like Bengaluru and Mumbai. The train services will stop at Barsoi Junction, providing significant relief to travelers. The government is working hard to ensure that more facilities are available for the public.

The new trains include routes to southern cities like Kerala, Chennai, and Bengaluru, along with services to Mumbai and Lukhnow. These trains will operate from NJP, Radhikapur, Kamakhya, Guwahati, and Assam, making travel easier for many passengers.


During the launch ceremony, many enthusiastic passengers and party workers from JD(U), LJP, and Congress were present. There were calls for even better train services on this route, with hopes that local representatives will push for more trains in the future.
