Vande Bharat Express Train Service for Bihar
The Railway Board has announced plans to enhance rail connectivity for passengers traveling to Bihar during the festival season. In a bid to facilitate easier travel for Biharis returning home for Diwali and Chhath, the board has proposed running one Vande Bharat or Amrit Bharat festival special train each from Delhi to Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Gaya, and Patna. The concerned railway zone has been instructed to prepare for these services, although the official schedule for these trains has not yet been confirmed.
Increased Demand for Train Services
During the festival period, there is a significant influx of passengers traveling from New Delhi to North Bihar, particularly to cities like Muzaffarpur and Darbhanga. This surge in demand often leads to overcrowding on existing trains, making it extremely difficult for travelers to secure tickets, even under the Tatkal scheme. To alleviate this issue, the Railway Board’s initiative to introduce special Vande Bharat trains aims to accommodate the increased passenger load during this busy season.
Special Train Operations from Sitamarhi
In addition to the proposed Vande Bharat services, the Railways has also decided to operate a pair of special trains between Sitamarhi and Lokmanya Tilak Terminal, with operations commencing from October 4, 2024, and continuing until February 2, 2025. This service will include 22 coaches, featuring 13 sleeper classes and 7 ordinary classes. The train from Raxaul will depart every Friday at 4:55 PM, while the return train from Lokmanya Tilak Terminal will leave every Sunday at 4:35 PM, providing further options for travelers during the festive season.
