This article shares updates about changes in train services in Prayagraj for the upcoming Magh Mela in 2026.
The Indian Railways is making big changes to handle the expected large crowd during the Magh Mela in 2026. Starting from January 2, 2026, for 47 days, many important trains will operate from the Subedar Ganj railway station instead of the Prayagraj Junction.
This move is aimed at reducing the pressure on the busy junction and making travel easier for passengers. For instance, the Prayagraj Express (12417) will now depart from Subedar Ganj. It will arrive back there at 6:55 AM. Similarly, the Prayagraj-Lalgarh Express (12403) will leave Subedar Ganj at 11:15 PM and return at 4:40 AM.
Additionally, the Anand Vihar Humsafar Express (22438) will also start from Subedar Ganj from January 12 to January 25, leaving at 12:30 AM and returning at 6:15 AM. Some trains have slight changes in their timings, like trains 22437 and 12275, which will now leave at 12:30 AM instead of 10:35 PM.
Many superfast trains, including the Rajdhani Express, will also stop at Subedar Ganj instead of the junction. Trains like the New Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani and New Delhi-Hawra Rajdhani will be among those making this change.
Moreover, the Vande Bharat train will now begin its journey from Fafamau station instead of the junction. This train will depart daily at 3:35 PM from January 13 to January 25. Other long-distance trains will also change their routes to pass through Rambagh and Chivki stations instead of the Prayagraj Junction.
