What’s inside:

Indian Railways has made important changes to ticketing and coach rules to make travel more comfortable for passengers.

Railways has announced new rules to make journeys easier for passengers. Starting now, some trains will no longer have RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation) seats, so passengers won’t have to share half a seat anymore. This change is especially for the Vande Bharat (Sleeper) train.

According to a recent circular, Vande Bharat Sleeper trains will only issue confirmed tickets. There will be no RAC or waitlisted tickets available. The minimum distance for these trains to operate will be 400 km. So, passengers can expect a more reliable ticketing experience.

For sleeper class tickets, the fare will now start at Rs. 149 for a minimum distance of 200 km. In second class, the minimum fare is Rs. 36 for a journey of 50 km. Reservation and superfast charges will be applied separately.

Additionally, only three categories of quotas will be available in the sleeper class: for women, differently-abled individuals, and senior citizens. Those travelling with senior citizens and children will have a better chance of getting lower berths, as the system will prioritize them based on availability.

These changes aim to make train travel smoother and more comfortable for everyone. Passengers are encouraged to check the new rules and book their tickets accordingly to enjoy a hassle-free journey.

Summary:

  • No more RAC seats in Vande Bharat Sleeper trains.

  • Only confirmed tickets will be issued for these trains.

  • New fare structure introduced for sleeper and second class.

  • Lower berths prioritised for senior citizens and those travelling with children.

  • Passengers should check new rules for a smoother travel experience.
