This article discusses the delays in train services and flights in Agra due to heavy fog.
Agra is facing ongoing issues with heavy fog, leading to significant delays in train services. On Wednesday, the Mau-Vadodara Special Express, which was scheduled to arrive at 10 AM, reached Agra at 9 PM, nearly nine hours late.
Other trains like the Utkal Express and Sachkhand Express were also delayed by several hours. The Vande Bharat trains from Bhopal and Khajuraho faced delays of two and a quarter hours respectively. In total, 135 passengers canceled their tickets due to these delays.
In addition to the train delays, around 280 passengers and 350 goods trains passed through Agra, but many long-distance trains were running late because of the fog. On that day, 21 trains were delayed by over an hour, with the Mau-Vadodara Special being the most affected.
Passengers expressed their frustration to railway officials, but the response was limited. Due to the fog, trains were operating under a semi-automatic signalling system instead of the usual automatic system, as confirmed by the Chief Public Relations Officer.
Flights were also affected, with the Ahmedabad-Agra flight arriving 17 minutes late and departing 21 minutes behind schedule. Similarly, the Bengaluru flight was delayed by 10 minutes.
