A Vande Bharat Express train, number 22488, running from Amritsar to Old Delhi, got delayed for about 52 minutes near Sonipat station on Saturday afternoon. The train had a technical problem when a piece of iron got stuck in its wheel, causing loud noises and vibrations that startled passengers.
The issue occurred near Sandal Kalaan station. As the train moved, it started making unusual sounds. Sensing something was wrong, the train driver reduced the speed and stopped the train safely at Sonipat station at 2:08 PM. The driver immediately informed railway officials about the situation.
Following the report, an engineering team from Sonipat arrived to investigate. The local police, including GRP and RPF officers, also came to the station for assistance. The engineers found the iron piece stuck in the wheel, which was confirmed to be the cause of the noise and vibration. After ensuring everything was fine, the train was allowed to continue its journey to Delhi around 3 PM.
This incident caused some disruption on the Ambala-Delhi railway line, affecting train operations temporarily. Two other Vande Bharat Express trains and the Chandigarh Shatabdi Express were rerouted through a loop line during this time. Additionally, trains like Amrapali, Pathankot, and Paschim Express were already running late, adding to the congestion at the station.
After the technical issue was resolved, the affected train resumed its service. Passengers can now travel without further delays, and railway operations are back to normal.
