To assist the thousands of devotees travelling to the Mahadevsal Temple during the auspicious Shravani Mela, the South Eastern Railway (SER) has introduced temporary stoppages for 22 pairs of Mail, Express, and MEMU trains. These special arrangements will remain in effect from July 30 to August 28, 2026, ensuring that pilgrims have easier access to the temple site. While the majority of these halts commence on July 30, select services will begin their temporary stoppage schedule on August 1 and August 2.
- Total trains affected: 22 pairs of Mail, Express, and MEMU services.
- Duration: July 30, 2026, to August 28, 2026.
- Stoppage duration: Each designated train will halt for two minutes at Mahadevsal station.
- Key routes: Includes services like the Bilaspur–Rourkela Weekly Express, Dhanbad–Durg Express, and Howrah–Titlagarh Ispat Express.
Ensuring Passenger Convenience and Safety
The initiative, managed by the Chakradharpur Division, aims to manage the significant increase in footfall expected at Mahadevsal during the holy month of Shravan. By providing these additional halts, the railway authorities intend to reduce station congestion and offer a more seamless travel experience for pilgrims coming from across the region. Railway officials confirmed that the decision was officially approved on July 13, 2026, to ensure adequate planning for the influx of visitors.
Important Guidelines for Pilgrims
Beyond the train schedule adjustments, the South Eastern Railway has implemented comprehensive crowd management and safety measures at the station. To ensure a smooth journey, all passengers are strictly advised to travel only with valid tickets and to follow the instructions provided by railway personnel on the ground. These operational changes are part of the railway’s commitment to supporting cultural and religious events while maintaining safety standards across the network. Passengers are encouraged to check the updated schedules for their specific trains before planning their journey to the Shravani Mela.
