This initiative, which officially commenced with the July 2026 edition, aims to keep travelers engaged during their journey with a curated selection of lifestyle and cultural content. Key highlights of this launch include:
- The magazine was officially inaugurated by Shri Tarun Jain, Principal Chief Commercial Manager of Western Railway, alongside senior railway officials.
- The initiative focuses on enhancing the onboard experience while boosting non-fare revenue for the national transporter.
- A three-year distribution contract has been awarded to M/s Insta Outdoor, Surat.
- The project is projected to generate approximately ₹22 lakh in non-fare revenue over the three-year contract period.
Enhancing the Onboard Experience
The ‘Track & Trend’ magazine is designed to cater to the diverse interests of Shatabdi Express passengers. Each issue covers a wide range of topics, including lifestyle, travel, health, culture, entertainment, and tourism. By providing high-quality reading material, Western Railway seeks to make the journey between Mumbai and Ahmedabad more enjoyable and productive for regular commuters and tourists alike.
A Strategic Move for Non-Fare Revenue
Beyond passenger amenities, this project highlights Western Railway’s commitment to exploring innovative revenue streams. According to the press release issued by Shri Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, the contract for the magazine began around July 27-28, 2026. By leveraging the captive audience on high-speed premium trains, the railway administration is successfully tapping into non-fare box revenue channels. The partnership with M/s Insta Outdoor ensures that the magazine will be a consistent feature for travelers on this route for the next three years, reflecting a broader trend of modernizing services on India’s most popular train corridors.
