The North Western Railway has officially announced a temporary route diversion for the Delhi-Jaisalmer Express (Train No. 14087) to accommodate critical infrastructure development. Passengers planning their travel between August 21 and September 24, 2026, should note the following key changes to the service:
- Diversion Period: The route change is effective from August 21 through September 24, 2026.
- Reason for Change: Ongoing double-tracking construction work on the Phulera-Ringas-Rewari rail section.
- New Route: The train will now operate via the Rewari-Mahendragarh-Loharu-Sikar and Ringas route.
- Additional Stops: The service will now halt at Mahendragarh, Loharu, Chidawa, Jhunjhunu, Nawalgarh, and Sikar.
Reason Behind the Route Adjustment
According to Amit Sudarshan, the Chief Public Relations Officer of the North Western Railway, the diversion is a necessary step to facilitate essential engineering works. The construction is currently concentrated between the Kund, Pali, and Khori stations. These infrastructure improvements are part of a larger project to enhance the capacity and efficiency of the Phulera-Ringas-Rewari rail section, which is vital for long-term network growth.
Impact on Passenger Travel
Because of this temporary diversion, travelers who usually board or deboard at stations on the original route should verify their schedules. The railway has updated the path to include stops at Mahendragarh, Loharu, Chidawa, Jhunjhunu, Nawalgarh, and Sikar, providing connectivity to these regions during the construction period.
Railway officials have advised passengers to keep track of these changes to avoid any last-minute inconvenience. While infrastructure projects often cause temporary disruptions, these upgrades are expected to significantly improve train operations and safety standards on this corridor once completed. Passengers are encouraged to check the official IRCTC website or the NTES app for real-time updates regarding their specific journey dates.
