Indian Railways has officially introduced a two-minute scheduled halt for the Bihar Sampark Kranti Express at Karpurigram station, located in the Samastipur district of Bihar. This new stoppage serves as a significant boost for connectivity in the ancestral village of Bharat Ratna Jananayak Karpoori Thakur. The service enhancement was implemented following a formal approval process aimed at addressing local travel needs.
Key highlights of the new stoppage include:
• Train 12565 (Darbhanga-New Delhi): Arrives at Karpurigram at 9:41 AM and departs at 9:43 AM.
• Train 12566 (New Delhi-Darbhanga): Scheduled to commence its halt at the station starting August 20, 2026.
• Official Inauguration: The service was flagged off by Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Ramnath Thakur, alongside Samastipur MP Shambhavi Choudhary and other local dignitaries.
Development and Planning
The decision to provide this halt comes after a series of high-level discussions. On June 9, 2026, Minister Ramnath Thakur met with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to formally propose the stop. Following this, the Railway Ministry issued an official approval letter on July 15, 2026. Upon receiving the clearance, the Samastipur Division of the East Central Railway expedited the necessary infrastructure and operational preparations at the station.
East Central Railway CPRO Saraswati Chandra emphasized that this development was prioritized to ensure passenger convenience and to fulfill a long-standing demand from the local community for better rail access. Samastipur Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Jyoti Prakash Mishra confirmed that all logistical requirements were finalized promptly to ensure a smooth transition for commuters. This move is expected to significantly benefit residents of the region, providing them with improved access to the premium Bihar Sampark Kranti service while connecting the historic Karpurigram station to major transit hubs like New Delhi and Darbhanga.
