Indian Railways launches a brand new weekly Amrit Bharat Express service to bridge the distance between Bhagalpur in Bihar and Ahmedabad in Gujarat. This new connection significantly improves travel options for passengers across multiple states including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat. Here are the key highlights of this new railway service:
– Designated as service number 19423/19424, this train replaces the former 09447/09448 Ahmedabad-Patna clone special train.
– The Ahmedabad-Bhagalpur Amrit Bharat Express (19423) commences regular operations from Ahmedabad every Wednesday starting August 26, 2026.
– The return service, Bhagalpur-Ahmedabad Amrit Bharat Express (19424), begins running from Bhagalpur every Friday starting August 28, 2026.
– Ticket bookings are already open via the IRCTC website and PRS counters since August 21, 2026.
– The train covers a total distance of approximately 1,976 kilometers in about 36 hours and 10 minutes.
Train Schedule and Timing Details
The Ahmedabad-Bhagalpur Amrit Bharat Express (19423) departs from Ahmedabad at 6:30 PM every Wednesday and arrives in Bhagalpur on Friday at 6:40 AM. On the return leg, the Bhagalpur-Ahmedabad Amrit Bharat Express (19424) departs Bhagalpur on Friday at 4:45 PM, successfully reaching Ahmedabad on Sunday at 5:25 AM. The train operates at speeds ranging from 110 to 130 kilometers per hour.
Coach Composition and Major Stoppages
Designed for passenger comfort and affordability, the train composition includes a total of 22 coaches. This consists of 11 sleeper class coaches, 8 general unreserved coaches, one pantry car, and two guard/divyangjan-cum-luggage van coaches.
During its long journey linking eastern and western India, the train halts at numerous key stations.
