This article talks about the new railway route from Aishbagh to Pilibhit, its development costs, and the current status of train services.
A new railway route from Aishbagh to Pilibhit has been completed for trains heading to Delhi. However, major trains have not started running on this new route yet.
The railway project, which cost around ₹700 crores, was started in 2016 to upgrade the old meter gauge line to broad gauge and electrify it. Despite the completion, the route is still waiting for modern, fast trains.
Currently, only a few trains like Gorakhpur-Mailani Express are operating on this section. Passengers were hoping for services like Vande Bharat trains to be introduced on this route, which would have greatly benefitted travelers in the area.
Plans to run Shatabdi and double-decker trains from Aishbagh to Delhi also exist, but they remain unfulfilled. As a result, passengers still have to travel to Lucknow to board these premium trains.
There was a virtual launch of the Saharanpur Vande Bharat Express by the Prime Minister, but regular services have not begun. Discussions are ongoing to change its schedule, which is causing further delays.
