The Indian Railways has introduced a special Vande Bharat train between Patna and Delhi to accommodate passengers during the busy Diwali and Chhath festivals, a period notorious for high demand and fully booked trains. For the first time, the Railways has released a schedule for this special service, which is essential given the lack of available seating on regular trains. The special train will operate without sleeper facilities, as the sleeper version of Vande Bharat is currently undergoing trial, with expectations of becoming a regular service in the future.

Train Schedule and Route

The special Vande Bharat train is set to run on a trial basis, with service beginning on October 30th and continuing on select dates in November. It will depart from New Delhi at approximately 8:25 am and reach Patna around 8:00 pm, covering the journey in about 11 hours and 35 minutes. The train will make stops at key locations including Kanpur, Prayagraj, Buxar, and Arrah Junction. Conversely, the return journey from Patna to Delhi will leave at 7:30 am, arriving in Delhi by 7:00 pm, with similar halts along the route.

Fare Structure and Amenities

While passengers traveling from Delhi to Patna on the special Vande Bharat train will have to remain seated throughout the journey, the fare is higher than that of a third AC berth on the Tejas Express. The cost for a seat in the SC chair car coach is Rs 2575, while the AC Executive chair car costs Rs 4655, which includes meals for the journey. In comparison, a third AC berth on the Tejas Express from Patna to Delhi is priced at Rs 2485, highlighting the additional expense associated with the special Vande Bharat service.
