The North Central Railway has officially announced the restoration of the halt for the Mahananda Express (train numbers 15484/15483) at Jalesar Road Railway Station. This long-awaited decision, set to take effect in a phased manner starting July 20, 2026, promises to enhance connectivity for thousands of passengers. The move is particularly beneficial for the residents of Sadabad and its surrounding regions, including students, traders, and professionals who rely on rail travel for their daily commute.
Key details regarding this development include:
- Train numbers: 15484 (Delhi-Alipurduar) and 15483 (Alipurduar-Delhi).
- Effective date: Phased implementation beginning July 20, 2026.
- Arrival timings: 10:38 AM (from Delhi) and 5:00 PM (from Kanpur direction).
- Duration: The halt is currently approved on a provisional basis for five months.
Restoring Vital Connectivity
This halt was previously discontinued during the COVID-19 pandemic, causing significant inconvenience to the local population. Following persistent public demand, the reinstatement was championed by Sadabad MLA Pradeep Chaudhary (Guddu), who formally requested the intervention of Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in April 2026. By bringing the train back to Jalesar Road, the railway aims to eliminate the need for local commuters to travel to distant districts to board the express, effectively reducing travel time and overall expenses for the public.
A Call for Passenger Support
While the halt is a welcome relief, railway authorities have clarified that its continuation beyond the initial five-month trial period will depend heavily on passenger demand. The administration will be closely monitoring ticket sales and footfall at Jalesar Road station during this window. To ensure this facility becomes a permanent feature, local community members are strongly encouraged to utilize the service and purchase their tickets directly from Jalesar Road station. By demonstrating consistent demand, residents can help secure this essential transport link for the long term.
