Indian Railways is set to bridge the gap between North and South India with the launch of the Prayagraj-Yeshwantpur Weekly Special train. This new service, managed by the North Central Railway (Jhansi Division), aims to provide seamless connectivity for the Bundelkhand region, catering to students, professionals, and pilgrims alike. Operational Schedule and Route Details
According to Manoj Kumar Singh, the Public Relations Officer for the North Central Railway, Jhansi Division, train number 04149 will depart from Prayagraj every Wednesday from August 5 to September 23, 2026. The return service, train number 04150, will depart from Yeshwantpur every Saturday from August 8 to September 26, 2026.
The route is strategically designed to serve the Bundelkhand region, with key halts including Khajuraho, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, Lalitpur, Banda, and Mahoba. Other major stations on the route include Shankargarh, Manikpur, Chitrakoot Dham, Bina, Rani Kamalapati (Bhopal), Itarsi, Nagpur, Secunderabad, and Yelahanka.
Train Composition and Passenger Experience
To accommodate a wide range of passengers, the train will feature a 23-coach ICF configuration. This includes seven general coaches, eleven sleeper coaches, two AC III Tier coaches, one AC II Tier coach, and two SLR/D coaches.
This new connectivity is expected to be a major boost for tourism and regional development, particularly for those traveling to and from the historic sites in Bundelkhand. By providing a direct link to South India, the service simplifies the travel experience for thousands who previously had to rely on indirect routes.
