What’s inside:

A viral video from Bihar’s Nawada district reveals a shocking incident of negligence in the healthcare system, where a woman’s death exposed serious flaws in the system.

In Nawada district, Bihar, a 75-year-old woman named Keshari Devi passed away during treatment at the Akbarpur Primary Health Center (PHC), bringing to light the callousness and insensitivity in the healthcare system.

The woman’s son repeatedly requested for an ambulance to transport the body home but was denied. After much insistence, the hospital agreed to provide a stretcher but with a strange condition – the son and wife had to sit in the hospital as “guarantors” until the stretcher was returned.

The incident went viral on social media, prompting a response from Dr. Vinod Chaudhary, who clarified that ambulances are meant for transporting patients, not bodies. He mentioned that the hospital has arrangements for transporting bodies and urged people to inform authorities in such cases.

The family had to carry the body on a stretcher to their home, which was located very close to the hospital. This incident highlights the lack of proper facilities for transporting deceased patients in the area.

This incident sheds light on the challenges faced by the public in accessing essential healthcare services and the urgent need for improvements in the healthcare infrastructure.

  • Family forced to carry body on a stretcher due to lack of ambulance.

  • Hospital clarifies that ambulances are not meant for transporting bodies.

  • Incident highlights the need for better healthcare facilities in the area.
