Indian Railways has shared exciting news about expanding its train services. They are planning to launch 200 Vande Bharat trains, which will include both seated and sleeper options, by the year 2026.
The Vande Bharat trains are made under the Make in India initiative and are produced at the ICF plant in Chennai. Currently, there are 76 Vande Bharat Express trains already in operation, available in different configurations with 8, 16, and 20 coaches.
Passengers will soon have more choices with the introduction of sleeper Vande Bharat trains. A 16-car prototype is set to be developed in 2024, and ten such trains will be manufactured. This will make long-distance travel more comfortable for everyone.
In addition to the sleeper trains, a joint venture will produce 120 more trains, which will include a total of 1,920 cars. Another company, Indian Titagarh along with BHEL, is also working on producing 53 sleeper Vande Bharat trains.
With these new developments, Indian Railways aims to enhance travel experiences across the country. The production is on track, and the new trains should be ready as planned, improving connectivity and comfort for all passengers.
