The Northern Railway has announced that 68 trains coming to and going from Jammu and Katra will be cancelled until September 30. This is happening because of heavy rains that have caused serious disruptions.

For the last eight days, rail traffic in the Jammu division has been stopped. The Pathankot-Jammu railway line faced issues like misalignment and breaches due to flooding. This situation has left many pilgrims and passengers stranded.

To help those stuck, some train services are being resumed. There will be shuttle services between Jammu Tawi and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, and trains running to Kolkata and New Delhi. The shuttle services will operate from September 1 to 15.

Additionally, trains like Sampark Kranti, Sealdah Express, Kantri Express, and Vande Bharat are also starting up again. The Vande Bharat train is expected to resume operations from September 7.

So far, around 5,784 passengers have been successfully transported from Jammu on seven different trains. This effort aims to make travel easier for those who have been stranded due to the recent weather conditions.

Summary:

  • 68 trains are cancelled from Jammu and Katra until September 30.

  • Rail traffic has been suspended for eight days due to heavy rains.

  • Shuttle services are running between Jammu and Katra for stranded passengers.

  • Several trains, including Vande Bharat, will resume operations soon.

  • Over 5,700 passengers have been moved from Jammu on various trains.
