Amrit Bharat Express Preparations
Preparations are underway to launch the Amrit Bharat Express train service between Pune and Muzaffarpur in Maharashtra. The Pune Railway Division team is currently conducting surveys of the Muzaffarpur, Danapur, and Chhapra railway sections in Bihar, starting from the Hadapsar station in Pune. This initiative aims to gather data on the projected footfall for the Amrit Bharat train at various stations. Following the survey, the findings will be forwarded to the Railway Board for further consideration.
Passenger Demand and Route Plans
Rampaul Barpagga, the Public Relations Officer for the Pune Railway Division, emphasized the significant number of passengers traveling from Pune to Bihar, prompting a thorough study of the proposed route. The plan includes operating the Amrit Bharat Express from Hadapsar station to Muzaffarpur, as well as services from Pune to Danapur and Pune to Chhapra. Trial runs for these routes are expected to occur soon, providing passengers with access to Vande Bharat-like facilities at more affordable rates through the Amrit Bharat Express.
New Train Services in North Bihar
Alongside the preparations for the Amrit Bharat Express, the Railway Ministry has initiated the operation of two Amrit Bharat Express trains starting January 2024, with one running from Darbhanga to Anand Vihar. In addition, North Bihar is set to receive its second Rajdhani Express, which will operate between New Delhi and Darbhanga. The proposal for this new service, along with the route chart, has been submitted to the Railway Board for approval. The proposed routes include connections through various key locations such as Samastipur, Muzaffarpur, and Patliputra.
