Daily commuters travelling between the National Capital Region and Agra have a major reason to cheer as Indian Railways has announced the extension of the Ghaziabad-Tundla EMU service. Starting July 15, 2026, the train will extend its reach to Agra City, significantly improving connectivity for thousands of passengers residing in Aligarh, Hathras, Tundla, and Agra.

  • Train numbers 64167 and 64168 will now run up to Agra City instead of terminating at Tundla.
  • The 12-coach EMU service will cover an additional distance, bringing the total route length to 206.66 kilometres.
  • New intermediate stops introduced include Itoura, Chamraula, and Jalesar Road.

New Timings and Operational Details

According to Amit Kumar Singh, Public Relations Officer for North Central Railway, the extension is designed to streamline travel for daily office-goers and traders. Train number 64167 is scheduled to depart from Ghaziabad at 6:10 AM, reaching Aligarh by 8:25 AM for a brief five-minute halt, and finally arriving at Agra City at 12:45 PM.

For the return journey, train number 64168 will depart from Agra City at 2:20 PM, ensuring passengers reach Ghaziabad by 7:50 PM. By extending the service beyond Tundla, the railway aims to reduce the dependency on connecting transport for passengers travelling towards the historic city of Agra.

Impact on Commuters

This expansion is a vital development for the North Central Railway zone. Previously, the service covered approximately 184.02 kilometres; with this extension, the total travel distance has been increased to 206.66 kilometres. The inclusion of new stops like Jalesar Road and Itoura ensures that smaller towns along the route benefit from improved access to the main line. Regular commuters who rely on this EMU service for their daily transit can now look forward to a more direct and efficient travel experience starting from mid-July.
