Indian Railways has announced a significant boost to rail connectivity between Gujarat and Bihar with the introduction of the new 19423/19424 Ahmedabad–Bhagalpur–Ahmedabad weekly Amrit Bharat Express. This new service is set to replace the existing 09447/09448 Ahmedabad–Patna–Ahmedabad clone special train, providing a more reliable and regular travel option for passengers. The move is designed to bridge the gap between the industrial hub of Ahmedabad and the ‘Silk City’ of Bhagalpur, catering to the high demand from migrant workers, students, and traders.
- Launch Date: The 19423 Ahmedabad–Bhagalpur service starts on August 26, 2026, and the 19424 Bhagalpur–Ahmedabad service starts on August 28, 2026.
- Frequency: The train will operate on a weekly basis.
- Key Stoppages: Within Eastern Railway, the train will halt at Abhaipur, Jamalpur, and Sultanganj.
- Objective: To upgrade the existing clone special train and provide direct, comfortable connectivity to the Bhagalpur and Munger regions.
Schedule and Connectivity
The 19423 Ahmedabad–Bhagalpur Amrit Bharat Express is scheduled to depart from Ahmedabad every Wednesday at 6:30 PM, arriving in Bhagalpur at 6:40 AM on the third day. For the return journey, the 19424 Bhagalpur–Ahmedabad Amrit Bharat Express will depart from Bhagalpur every Friday at 4:45 PM, reaching Ahmedabad at 5:25 AM on the third day.
According to Eastern Railway CPRO Shibram Manjhi, this service is a strategic move to support the large number of people traveling between these two states for employment and commerce. By upgrading the service from a clone special to a regular Amrit Bharat Express, the Railways aims to provide a more consistent and modern experience for commuters.
Strategic Significance for Passengers
This route is particularly vital for residents of Bhagalpur, Munger, and Lakhisarai who frequently travel to Gujarat for work. By establishing a direct link, the Railways intends to simplify travel for the workforce and business community. While the train schedule is finalized, the Indian Railways will announce the specific ticket booking dates for the 19424 service in the near future. Passengers are advised to keep an eye on the official IRCTC website and HelloRail.in for further updates on fare structures and booking availability.
