The North Central Railway (NCR) has officially announced the extension of the popular special train service running between Prayagraj Junction and Dadri station near Noida. Originally slated to end on August 31, the service will now continue to operate through the end of the year to manage the heavy passenger rush expected during the upcoming Dussehra, Diwali, and Chhath Puja festivals.
- Train 02417 (Prayagraj-Dadri Special) will operate daily from September 1, 2026, to November 30, 2026.
- Train 02418 (Dadri-Prayagraj Special) will operate daily from September 2, 2026, to December 1, 2026.
- Both services will complete 91 trips each during this extended period.
- The train maintains a 21-coach composition and includes a scheduled halt at Phaphund station.
Details of the Extended Service
Dr. Shivam Sharma, the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of North Central Railway, confirmed that the extension is a direct response to the projected surge in travel demand. With the festive season approaching, thousands of passengers typically travel between the Prayagraj region and the National Capital Region (NCR). By extending these services, the railway aims to provide a reliable transit option for commuters and families planning their travel well in advance.
Train Composition and Route Information
To ensure adequate capacity for different classes of travelers, the train is currently running with a 21-car coach composition. This includes 10 Sleeper coaches, 3 AC Three-tier coaches, 5 General coaches, and 2 SLR (Seating cum Luggage Rake) coaches. The inclusion of these varied coach types is intended to cater to a wide spectrum of passengers, from those seeking budget-friendly travel to those preferring air-conditioned comfort.
Additionally, the train will continue to provide a scheduled halt at Phaphund station. This stop is strategically important as it provides essential rail connectivity for passengers residing in the surrounding areas, making the journey more accessible for those who do not live directly near major metropolitan hubs. Passengers are advised to check the official IRCTC website or the NTES app for real-time updates and booking availability as the festive season approaches.
