The Ministry of Railways has officially confirmed the launch of a new weekly Amrit Bharat Express service connecting the national capital, Delhi, with Gorakhpur. This service marks the regularisation of the former special train service, aiming to provide enhanced connectivity and modern travel comforts for passengers on this busy route. The official operations will begin from Gorakhpur on August 27, 2026, followed by the return service from Delhi on August 28, 2026.
- Train Number 15095 departs Gorakhpur every Thursday at 10:45 PM.
- Train Number 15096 departs Old Delhi every Friday at 2:00 PM.
- The train covers approximately 780 kilometers in about 14 hours.
- The rake features modern Push-Pull technology with 22 coaches.
Schedule and Operational Details
According to Sumit Kumar, Chief Public Relations Officer of the North Eastern Railway, the service is designed for efficiency and passenger convenience. Train 15095 is scheduled to reach Old Delhi Railway Station at 12:50 PM on Fridays, while the return Train 15096 arrives back in Gorakhpur at 6:30 AM on Saturdays. With a maximum operational speed of 130 kmph, this train ensures a swift journey for commuters.
Modern Amenities and Coach Composition
The 22-coach train set is specifically engineered to cater to the needs of lower and lower-middle-income travelers, offering a blend of affordability and modern amenities. The composition includes 11 General Second Class coaches, 8 Sleeper Class coaches, 1 Pantry Car, and 2 LSLRD coaches. The inclusion of Push-Pull technology ensures faster acceleration and deceleration, significantly improving the travel experience.
Strategic Route and Stops
To facilitate connectivity across the region, the Amrit Bharat Express will make designated stops at Khalilabad, Basti, Gonda, Burhwal, Sitapur, Bareilly, Moradabad, and Ghaziabad. This route has been carefully selected to serve passengers residing in these key towns and cities. Additionally, the Railway Board has confirmed that, alongside this service, a separate weekly Amrit Bharat Express route between Gorakhpur and Bandra is also in the pipeline, further expanding the network of this popular train category.
