Indian Railways is launching the regular operation of the Ahmedabad-Bhagalpur Amrit Bharat Express to significantly improve connectivity between Gujarat and Bihar. This new weekly service replaces the previous clone special train and officially begins on August 26, 2026, thanks to the joint efforts of Western Railway and Eastern Railway. Passengers traveling across Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar can now benefit from this expanded route which aims to accommodate rising passenger demand. Train numbers 19423 and 19424 have been assigned to this new weekly Amrit Bharat Express service. Booking for train 19423 officially opened on August 21, 2026, across all PRS counters as well as the IRCTC website and mobile application. Officials including Eastern Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Shibram Manjhi and Western Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Vineet Abhishek confirmed the operational details.
Schedule and Route Details
Train 19423 departs from Ahmedabad every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. and arrives in Bhagalpur on Friday at 6:40 a.m. For the return journey, train 19424 departs from Bhagalpur every Friday at 4:45 p.m. and reaches Ahmedabad on Sunday at 5:25 a.m. The total journey spans approximately 1,976 kilometers with a travel time of about 36 hours and 10 minutes. Travelers should also note that the train features a scheduled stop at Bayana station located within the Kota division.
Train Composition and Modern Amenities
The 22-coach train configuration includes 11 general second-class coaches, 8 sleeper class coaches, one pantry car, and two LSLRD coaches. Built for optimal performance, the rake is designed for speeds between 110 and 130 km/h. Passengers onboard will experience modern amenities aimed at improving comfort and safety, including CCTV cameras, bio-vacuum toilets, foot-operated water taps, a passenger information system, electric outlets, reading lights, and convenient bottle holders.
