Indian Railways has officially inaugurated a new initiative designed to connect local railway stations in Aligarh to the One District One Product scheme. This strategic move aims to facilitate the streamlined transportation of locally cultivated agricultural products from Aligarh to major urban centers across the country. North Central Railway is spearheading the effort to integrate regional agricultural logistics into the national rail network as of August 21 2026. By leveraging rail infrastructure, the initiative seeks to reduce dependence on road transport and provide farmers, producers, and traders with a more efficient, high-capacity method for moving bulk produce to distant markets.
Boosting Regional Agricultural Logistics
Amit Kumar Singh, Public Relations Officer for the North Central Railway, confirmed that the organization is actively planning to enhance booking and transit capabilities at local stations. The railway administration is currently developing the necessary logistical arrangements at these stations to ensure that agricultural goods can be handled effectively. The primary objective of this program is to expand market accessibility for Aligarh local agricultural output. By establishing these new transit avenues, the initiative aims to empower regional stakeholders, allowing them to supply large quantities of produce to urban consumers nationwide, thereby strengthening the regional agricultural economy.
