Indian Railways is introducing a brand new weekly Amrit Bharat Express connecting Gorakhpur and Delhi to provide affordable and comfortable travel for passengers across Purvanchal, Rohilkhand, and Western Uttar Pradesh. This highly anticipated service is scheduled to commence its regular run from Gorakhpur on August 27, 2026, while the return service from Delhi will begin on August 28, 2026. This launch marks a significant step in upgrading non-AC train travel and replaces the previous Gorakhpur-Delhi special trains numbered 05057 and 05058. Passengers can look forward to enhanced regional connectivity, modern LHB rake technology, well-planned schedules with convenient timings, and affordable fares designed for common travellers. Operated by the Northeast Railway, this train will cover a distance of approximately 780 kilometers in around 14 hours while running at a maximum operational speed of 130 kmph.
Train Schedule and Route Details
The new service will operate using two specific train numbers. Train 15095 will depart Gorakhpur Junction every Thursday at 10:45 PM and arrive at Old Delhi at 12:50 PM the following day. For the return journey, Train 15096 will depart Old Delhi every Friday at 2:00 PM and reach Gorakhpur Junction at 6:30 AM the next morning. To ensure seamless regional connectivity, the train has scheduled halts at several key stations including Khalilabad, Basti, Gonda, Burhwal, Sitapur, Bareilly, Moradabad, and Ghaziabad.
Modern Coach Composition and Facilities
Each Amrit Bharat Express train set features 22 modern Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches, offering superior safety, jerk-free rides, and aesthetic interiors. The composition includes 11 General Class coaches, 8 Sleeper Class coaches, 1 pantry car, and 2 Second Class-cum-Luggage-cum-Guard vans which are specially equipped with disabled-friendly facilities. This layout is tailored to meet the massive demand for non-AC travel among everyday commuters.
Boosting Regional Growth and Infrastructure
According to officials from Northern Railways, the introduction of the Amrit Bharat Express aims to enhance travel convenience, foster regional development, and significantly reduce passenger pressure on existing high-traffic rail corridors. This project aligns seamlessly with the broader national Amrit Bharat initiative, which focuses on upgrading overall railway infrastructure, improving service reliability, and cutting down travel times for millions of citizens.
