What’s inside:
This article talks about train and flight delays in Agra due to heavy fog, affecting many passengers.
Fog is still causing problems in Agra. On Thursday, trains were running slower because of the thick fog. Many trains were delayed by over an hour, including the Khajuraho Vande Bharat and Nizamuddin Shatabdi Express. The worst delay was for the Samta Express, which was 10 hours late.
Due to the fog, 112 passengers cancelled their tickets at Agra Cantt and other stations. Trains were operated on a semi-automatic signaling system instead of the usual automatic one. This means only one train can run between two stations at a time, reducing the chances of accidents.
In the automatic system, trains can run at a distance of one to two kilometers apart. To manage the situation in the fog, firecrackers were used on the tracks to ensure trains could run smoothly. The Samta Express finally reached Agra after a delay of 10 hours.
Other trains like Golden Temple, Punjab Mail, and Mahakaushal Express also faced delays of over an hour. Many complaints about train delays were received at the railway helpline. The railway spokesperson mentioned that the fog was the main reason for the slow train speeds.
Flight operations were also affected at Kheria Airport. Four flights were scheduled, but only the one to Mumbai was on time. The Ahmedabad flight was 42 minutes late, while Bengaluru and Hyderabad flights were delayed by 13 and 17 minutes, respectively.
Summary:
- Fog continues to cause train delays in Agra.
- Over an hour of delay for many trains including Samta Express.
- Passengers cancelled tickets due to the fog.
- Flight schedules were also disrupted at Kheria Airport.
- Complaints about train delays were high at the railway helpline.
