Indian Railways is redeveloping the Safdarjung Railway Station in Delhi into a world-class transit hub at a sanctioned cost of 385 crore. Modern amenities and airport-style design at Safdarjung
The new station is designed to offer a seamless travel experience similar to major international airports. It features a seven-story building with dedicated arrival and departure zones to manage passenger movement and prevent overcrowding. Travelers will have access to a large air-conditioned concourse, multi-level parking, and high-speed lifts and escalators. The station complex will also house shopping areas, restaurants, and a hotel for the convenience of passengers.

Safdarjung Railway Station will serve as a significant hub for luxury tourist trains. It traditionally serves as the starting point for the Palace on Wheels and will now cater to the Maharaja Express as well.
