The construction of the new rail line connecting Bahraich, Shravasti, Balrampur, and Khalilabad is moving forward. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently informed former MP Daddan Mishra that about 50 percent of the land acquisition is finished. The tendering process for the project is currently active to speed up the construction work.

The project is being monitored by the Prime Minister’s Office. In Balrampur, drone surveys are complete and land marking has started in 66 villages across Sadar and Utraula tehsils. In Shravasti, the government allocated ₹172 crore for 5,090 farmers, and more than ₹70 crore has already been paid. Land acquisition is almost complete in Bahraich and Siddharthnagar.

This 240 km long rail line aims to connect the Devi Patan division with Sant Kabir Nagar. The project was originally approved in March 2019 with an estimated cost of approximately ₹4,940 crore. The route will link Khalilabad to Bahraich via Bhinga, Shravasti, Balrampur, Utraula, and Dumariyaganj.
