Indian Railways has introduced the Automatic Tower Backup System to make train operations safer. This new system focuses on maintaining a constant connection between stations and signaling equipment. It ensures that trains keep moving safely even if there is a technical failure in the main lines.
Where has the new system been installed
To strengthen the communication network, the railway has installed new network towers at Dariyapur and Lakshmanpur stations. These towers act as a secondary support system. If the underground cables get damaged, these towers will ensure that the contact between the station and the signal is not broken.
How does the Automatic Tower Backup System work
Saurabh Singh, Senior Section Engineer of the Signal Department, stated that this system works on an automatic backup mechanism. In normal conditions, signals work through underground cables, but in case of a cable fault, the system automatically switches to the tower backup. This prevents signal failures and keeps the train movement secure.
