Passengers travelling on the crucial Delhi-Mumbai route should prepare for significant travel adjustments as Indian Railways carries out essential infrastructure work in the Dara Valley. The Kota Rail Division has announced a series of traffic blocks on July 23 and 27, 2026, to facilitate the construction of a new railway underbridge (RUB) between Dara and Kanwalpura stations. This project aims to eliminate long-standing traffic congestion in the region, involving the installation of an RH girder and box pushing techniques.
Key details of the upcoming traffic disruptions include:
- Train Cancellations: Trains 59840 Kota-Akleara Passenger and 59839 Akleara-Kota Passenger are cancelled on July 27.
- Train Delays: On July 23, passengers on trains like 22655 Ernakulam-Nizamuddin Superfast Express, 22997 Jhalawar City-Sriganganagar Express, and 19019 Dehradun Express should expect delays of 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours 20 minutes.
- Railway Block Schedule: Blocks are scheduled on both July 23 and 27, affecting both Up and Down lines for several hours during the afternoon.
- Road Diversions: NH 52 and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will undergo major traffic rerouting, with the expressway closed between Karadia and Gopalpura during block hours.
Railway Block Timings
On July 23, the Mumbai-bound Up Line will face a five-hour block from 12:45 PM to 5:45 PM, while the Delhi-bound Down Line will be blocked for three hours from 1:45 PM to 4:45 PM. Similarly, on July 27, the Mumbai-bound line will be affected from 1:10 PM to 6:10 PM, and the Delhi-bound line from 2:10 PM to 5:10 PM. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Saurabh Jain noted that these measures are necessary to ensure the safe and efficient completion of the RUB project.
Road Traffic Management
Beyond the tracks, road users must plan their journeys carefully. Kota Rural SP Sujeet Shankar confirmed that a comprehensive diversion plan is being implemented to manage the closure of NH 52 and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. Authorities are working in close coordination to ensure that the impact on local and long-distance road traffic is minimized. Commuters are advised to check their train status via the NTES app or the official IRCTC website before heading to the station on these dates.
