Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually flagged off the new Kartoli–Ambala Express (14502/14501) on July 17, 2026, marking a significant milestone in regional rail connectivity. This daily service aims to bridge gaps between Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh, fostering economic growth and social development. Alongside the train launch, the new Kartoli Railway Station was inaugurated, serving as the first operational station on the vital Nangal–Talwara–Mukerian broad-gauge rail line.
- Train 14502 (Kartoli–Ambala City Express) departs at 8:30 AM and reaches at 12:55 PM.
- Train 14501 (Ambala City–Kartoli Express) departs at 4:15 PM and reaches at 8:25 PM.
- The route covers key stations including Daulatpur Chowk, Una Himachal, Nangal Dam, and Anandpur Sahib.
- The Delhi–Daulatpur Chowk Express (14053/14054) has been officially extended to Kartoli.
Connecting the Kandi Region
This infrastructure development is a major boost for the residents of the Talwara and Hajipur blocks in Punjab, as well as the Jaswan-Pragpur and Fatehpur constituencies in Himachal Pradesh. Beyond daily commuting, the train provides seamless access to prominent religious landmarks, including Shri Anandpur Sahib and the Maa Chintpurni Temple.
Strategic Infrastructure Investment
The project is a result of the Nangal Dam-Talwara-Mukerian New Rail Line Project, with the new rail segment connecting Daulatpur Chowk to Kartoli constructed at an approximate cost of ₹830 crore. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw closely monitored the final preparations for this launch, which is part of a broader push to modernize rail infrastructure in the northern states. Local leaders have lauded the move, noting that the enhanced connectivity will serve as a catalyst for development in the historically underserved Kandi region. With the extension of the Delhi–Daulatpur Chowk Express, passengers now enjoy broader, more direct rail access to the national capital, further integrating these districts into the country’s main rail network.
