In a recent update, Indian Railways has hiked the fares of premium trains, impacting major routes in Bihar. Passengers traveling from Patna to Kolkata will now have to pay an additional amount for sleeper and air-conditioned classes.
The fares for sleeper class have increased from 350 to 360 rupees, 3AC from 845 to 855 rupees, 2AC from 1275 to 1285 rupees, and 1AC from 2115 to 2125 rupees for the Patna to Kolkata route. Similar fare hikes apply for other routes as well.
Starting from today, all trains passing through Bihar will implement a one-time password (OTP) system for ticket bookings to enhance transparency and reduce fraud. This system is currently applicable to 100 major trains, including those on the Patna-Delhi and Patna-Kolkata routes.
Passengers traveling through Danapur Mandal and Patna Junction will also witness the introduction of the OTP system in all express trains to improve ticket booking processes and reduce malpractices. The railway officials are preparing a list of all express trains in these regions to implement this new system.
