Industry in Bihar: Establishment of new industrial sectors in the past 20 years.
In the last 20 years, 48 new industrial sectors have been set up in Bihar, with an average of two to three new industrial sectors developed every year. The number of industrial sectors, which was 46 in 2005, has now increased to 94 by 2025. The industry department is making continuous efforts in this direction. Recently, emphasis has been placed on establishing new industrial parks.
According to official sources, proposals are being prepared to establish pharmaceutical parks in Madhoura and Arwal in the Saran district. Land acquisition is underway for this purpose, and setting up new units in the pharmaceutical industry is considered the most likely step. A fintech park or city will be developed on 242 acres of land near the multi-modal logistic park in Jaitiya Mouza, Fatuha, near Patna.
In Bihar, new industrial parks will be established in Bhojpur, Sheikhpura, Rohtas, Shivhar, Darbhanga, and Purnia. For international-level investors, the Indian government has created a special Land Bank Portal. The recent report of the portal indicates that 649 hectares of land suitable for investment is available in Bihar. There are about 7,250 plots in all industrial sectors of Bihar, of which only 1,917 plots are currently vacant and available for investment.
The state has 58 mixed industrial parks and 16 modern parks designed for various types of units. Additionally, the Bihar government has expedited preparations to create a 10,000-acre land bank. Land acquisition is ongoing in different districts, with an estimated time of about 18 months to prepare a strong basic structure by acquiring land.
