What’s inside:

A high-speed train trial run is happening soon between Coimbatore and Jolarpettai, with new speed upgrades planned.

The Southern Railway will be testing a high-speed train from Coimbatore to Jolarpettai this Thursday morning. The trial run is set to begin at 8 AM, and the railway authorities are urging people to stay away from the tracks during this time.

This train can currently travel at a maximum speed of 110 km/h over the 286-kilometre route. However, once the track upgrades are completed by March 2026, it will be able to reach speeds of 130 km/h.

For passengers, this means a faster journey to Chennai. Specifically, those taking the Vande Bharat train could arrive 20 to 25 minutes earlier than before if the speed is increased to 130 km/h.

The railway has made several improvements to support this upgrade. They have strengthened bridges, made curves straighter, and installed better safety barriers. Additionally, they have improved the automatic signalling system and overhead equipment.

Despite some delays in the track strengthening work due to various reasons, the railway expects to see the benefits of these upgrades soon. Passengers can look forward to a quicker and more efficient travel experience in the near future.

Summary:

  • A trial run for a high-speed train is on Thursday at 8 AM.

  • The train’s speed will increase from 110 km/h to 130 km/h by 2026.

  • Passengers may save 20 to 25 minutes on their journey to Chennai.

  • Railways have made several upgrades to support the new speed.

  • Improvements will lead to a faster travel experience soon.
