The Indian Railways is set to launch its first Vande Bharat Sleeper train service from Delhi, connecting major cities.



The Indian Railways is planning to start its first Vande Bharat Sleeper train service from Delhi. This new service will connect cities like Ahmedabad, Bhopal, and Patna, covering a distance of about 1,000 kilometers.

The Vande Bharat Sleeper trains are designed for longer journeys. They will run at a maximum speed of 180 km/h and a service speed of 160 km/h. Currently, the officials are finalizing the specific routes, which will be announced soon.


This service aims to make overnight travel more comfortable for passengers. It is expected to be introduced in the coming weeks, providing better options for those traveling on high-demand routes.

At present, there are around 150 Vande Bharat chair car services, which are faster but only operational during the day. The introduction of sleeper coaches will enhance passenger comfort significantly.


As part of its expansion, the Indian Railways is also working on producing more general and non-air-conditioned coaches, with plans to manufacture around 17,000 over the next five years. This indicates a growing focus on improving travel facilities for the public.
