Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to virtually inaugurate 13 redeveloped railway stations in Madhya Pradesh on July 17, 2026, at 3:40 PM. These stations are part of a massive nationwide initiative under the Indian Railways’ Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, which seeks to upgrade 80 stations across the state with an investment of approximately **Rs 3,000 crore**. The project is designed with a long-term vision to provide robust, future-ready infrastructure for the next 40 to 50 years.
Key features of the upgraded stations include:
- Modernized station buildings and expanded platform shelters.
- Enhanced accessibility with ramps, tactile pathways, and spacious waiting halls.
- Improved infrastructure including 12-meter wide foot overbridges and dual-side city connectivity.
- Sustainable features such as energy-efficient LED lighting and eco-friendly designs.
- Passenger-centric amenities like free Wi-Fi, executive lounges, and ‘One Station One Product’ kiosks.
Focus on Modernization and Heritage
The redevelopment works are guided by the ‘Virasat Bhi, Vikas Bhi’ philosophy, ensuring that the architecture reflects local cultural and historical themes while incorporating high-tech passenger services. The stations now feature advanced digital information and public announcement systems, alongside organized parking and improved circulating areas. Business travelers will also benefit from dedicated spaces designed for meetings and professional convenience.
Stations Set for Inauguration
The 13 stations receiving these upgrades are Vidisha, Sanchi, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Beohari, Bhind, Harpalpur, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, Junnor Deo, Balaghat, Chhindwara, and Nainpur.
To mark the occasion, elaborate celebrations will begin at 2:00 PM at key locations, including Sanchi, Vidisha, Ashoknagar, and Shivpuri, featuring cultural performances, film screenings, and awards. Several high-profile dignitaries will be in attendance to oversee the rollout: Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel will be present at Sanchi, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will attend the event at Tikamgarh, and Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia will participate in the ceremony at Ashoknagar.
