Passengers traveling through Delhi Cantonment Railway Station should prepare for significant travel adjustments as a major redevelopment project kicks off this week. From July 15 to October 13, 2026, Northern Railway and North Western Railway will be undertaking extensive infrastructure upgrades on platforms two and three. To facilitate these improvements, officials have announced that approximately 20 trains will skip their scheduled halt at Delhi Cantt, while the platform numbers for over 70 other services—including premium Rajdhani, Shatabdi, and Vande Bharat trains—will be temporarily relocated.

Key details regarding the service changes include:

  • Duration: July 15, 2026, to October 13, 2026.
  • Impact: 20 trains will bypass the station; over 70 trains will face platform changes.
  • Specific diversions: Train number 19701/19702 Jaipur-Delhi Cantt-Jaipur will now terminate and originate at Shakur Basti.
  • Skipped stops: Train number 09609 Udaipur City-Yoga City Rishikesh Weekly Special will not stop at Delhi Cantt.
  • Regional Impact: Commuters from Gurugram, Rewari, Mahendragarh, Narnaul, Alwar, and parts of Rajasthan and Haryana are most affected.

These infrastructure works are part of a broader push to modernize the station and provide superior facilities for passengers in the long run. However, in the short term, the disruptions will be felt by thousands of daily commuters. Railway authorities suggest that passengers who usually board or deboard at Delhi Cantt should consider using alternative terminals such as Delhi Sarai Rohilla or Old Delhi Railway Station to avoid last-minute transit issues.

Amit Sudarshan, Chief Public Relations Officer of the North Western Railway, has urged travelers to stay informed regarding the status of their specific trains. With schedules shifting, it is essential to verify your train’s arrival and departure details before heading to the station. Passengers can check the latest updates through the NTES app, by calling the Rail Madad Helpline at 139, or by visiting the official Indian Railways website. Keeping these resources handy will ensure a smoother travel experience while the station undergoes these vital upgrades.
