Indian Railways has officially commenced the construction of a new foot over bridge (FOB) at Panchgachhia station, a move aimed at enhancing passenger safety and streamlining station accessibility. The project, which kicked off on May 24, 2026, is set to eliminate the dangerous practice of passengers crossing railway tracks, ensuring a secure environment for both commuters and local residents.

Focus on Safety and Infrastructure
The new infrastructure is designed to provide a seamless passage from Platform Number One toward the eastern side of the station. By providing this dedicated crossing point, railway authorities aim to significantly reduce the risk of accidents caused by trespassing on the tracks, which remains a primary safety concern at smaller stations.
Project Execution and Supervision
The project is being executed under the direct supervision of top railway officials, including Samastipur Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Jyotiprakash Mishra and Senior DEN Co-ordination Sanjay Kumar. To ensure quality and timely delivery, ADEN D.K. Vibhuti and IOW Manoj Kumar Sah are monitoring the work on-site. The contract for this development has been awarded to the Samastipur-based contractor Rajaram Rai.
Railway authorities have expressed confidence that the project will meet its completion target, providing a much-needed upgrade to the station’s infrastructure.
