Railway infrastructure works are currently underway at Gate Number 22 in Patori, Samastipur, prompting the local administration to restrict traffic flow to ensure public safety. Travelers and local residents are advised to plan their journeys using alternative routes while the construction project is active. This development is part of the East Central Railway’s broader strategy to modernize crossing facilities and improve safety standards across the Samastipur Division.
Key highlights of the ongoing and upcoming railway projects include:
- Temporary closure at Gate Number 22: Traffic has been diverted to facilitate essential construction work.
- Maintenance Tenders: The Ministry of Railways issued tender TC-69-2026-SPJ on July 14, 2026, for the repair and upkeep of level crossings under ADEN/BMKI, with a bid deadline of August 6, 2026.
- Infrastructure Expansion: Major projects include an Rs 14.0 crore underground subway at Gate No. 59 ‘C’ between Karpoorigram and Khudiram Bose Pusa stations.
- Corridor Upgrades: A massive Rs 8,600 crore initiative is planned for the development of third and fourth railway lines along the Shahpur Patori-Bachwara and Hajipur-Muzaffarpur-Samastipur-Bachwara routes.
Commitment to Infrastructure Modernization
The Samastipur Division is aggressively pursuing these upgrades to enhance both safety and operational efficiency. The aforementioned Rs 8,600 crore project is particularly significant, as it involves the construction of 69 new level crossings. By investing in these high-density corridors, the Indian Railways aims to minimize traffic congestion at road-rail interfaces and streamline train movement across the region.
These initiatives reflect a long-term commitment to upgrading aging infrastructure. From the development of subways to the expansion of line capacity, the East Central Railway is focused on reducing the risks associated with level crossings. Commuters are encouraged to cooperate with local authorities during the current construction phase at Patori, as these short-term inconveniences are essential for long-term safety and improved connectivity.
