The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have officially released a revised schedule and updated identification protocols for the upcoming RRB Group D Exam 2026 (CEN 09/2025). These updates are set to impact lakhs of aspirants vying for 22,195 Level 1 vacancies across the Indian Railways network. To ensure a seamless examination experience, candidates are advised to take note of the following critical changes:
- The Computer Based Test (CBT) will now be held between August 3 and August 25, 2026.
- The exam is spread across 16 specific dates: August 3-6, 9-14, 17-21, and 25.
- Candidates must carry two original photo ID proofs, one of which must match the details provided in their application.
- Aadhaar-based biometric authentication is now mandatory for entry.
- Candidates must ensure their Aadhaar is in an ‘unlocked’ status via the UIDAI system.
Updated Exam Schedule and Entry Requirements
The revised examination calendar shifts the conclusion date of the CBT from August 21 to August 25, 2026. With the examination being conducted across multiple shifts nationwide, it is imperative that candidates check their specific exam date through the official RRB portals. The Exam City & Date Intimation Slip will be made available to candidates approximately 10 days before their scheduled date, while the E-Call Letter (Admit Card) will be released 4 days prior to the exam.
Stricter Identity Verification Protocols
To maintain the integrity of the recruitment process, the RRBs have introduced stringent entry guidelines. Beyond the mandatory biometric verification, candidates are required to present their original Aadhaar card or an e-verified Aadhaar printout at the examination centre. If a candidate does not have an Aadhaar card, they may present other government-issued photo IDs such as a PAN Card, Voter ID, Driving Licence, or Passport.
Additionally, all applicants must carry a passport-size photograph—ideally the same one used during the initial application process—alongside their printed E-Call Letter. Railway authorities have emphasized that failure to adhere to these identification rules may result in denial of entry.
