Container Corporation of India Ltd (CONCOR) has officially launched double-stack container train services connecting the Multi Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) in Dadri to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) in Mumbai. This strategic move leverages the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) to streamline logistics between the National Capital Region and India’s primary container gateway. The launch, which took place on July 28, 2026, also marked the commissioning of Dedicated Line No. 7 at the Dadri MMLP, a vital infrastructure enhancement designed to optimize rail operations.
Key highlights of the new service include:
- Double-stack container operations now link MMLP Dadri directly to JNPA via the WDFC corridor.
- The commissioning of Dedicated Line No. 7 significantly boosts rail handling capacity and reduces terminal congestion.

Shri Sanjay Swarup, Chairman & Managing Director of CONCOR, noted that these upgrades allow for simultaneous train operations and improved turnaround times. By utilizing the WDFC, which achieved full operational status on March 31, 2026, CONCOR is effectively reducing the transportation cost per container. This shift is expected to make Indian exports more competitive in the global market by ensuring faster and more reliable delivery schedules.
Focus on Cold Chain and Future Growth
Beyond standard freight, the Dadri MMLP is positioning itself as a central hub for the movement of perishable goods. Following the successful commencement of double-stack services from JNPA on July 26, 2026, the Dadri depot is now equipped to handle complex refrigerated cargo through double-stack reefer trains. With the WDFC providing a dedicated high-speed path for freight, manufacturers in the Noida and Greater Noida regions gain a significant advantage in supply chain efficiency.
