The Railway Recruitment Board has officially announced an increase of 36 vacancies for its ongoing recruitment drive covering Junior Engineer, Depot Material Superintendent, and Chemical and Metallurgical Assistant positions. With this latest update, the total number of available posts across the board has increased to 4,029, moving up from the previously announced 3,993 vacancies. Aspiring railway candidates looking to build a career in the public sector can take note of the revised seat distribution and crucial dates to ensure their applications are successfully submitted before the closing deadlines.
The newly added 36 posts comprise 35 positions for Chemical and Metallurgical Assistant and one position for a Junior Engineer under the Secunderabad Board. Specifically, the distribution for the Chemical and Metallurgical Assistant posts includes 15 vacancies in Chennai, 7 each in Bhopal and Patna, 4 in Guwahati, and 1 each in Prayagraj and Bengaluru.
Important Dates and Application Timeline
Applications for this recruitment drive officially opened on August 14 and will remain active until September 13. Candidates must note that they have until September 15 to submit the required application fee. Furthermore, an application correction window will be made available from September 16 to September 25 to allow applicants to make necessary rectifications in their submitted forms.
Selection Process and Eligibility Criteria
The selection process for these coveted railway positions consists of two stages of Computer-Based Tests, which will be followed by document verification and a comprehensive medical examination. Applicants must fall between 18 and 33 years of age, with standard age relaxations applicable to reserved categories including 5 years for SC and ST candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates.
Educational requirements mandate a three-year diploma in a relevant engineering trade for Junior Engineer and Depot Material Superintendent posts, or a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Chemistry for Chemical and Metallurgical Assistant roles. Successfully selected candidates will be placed in Pay Level 6 of the 7th Central Pay Commission, starting with an initial basic pay of ₹35,400.
Application Fees and Fee Refund Details
The application fee is set at ₹500 for general candidates, out of which ₹400 is refundable after appearing for the first stage exam. For SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, female, transgender, minority, and Economically Backward Class candidates, the fee is ₹250, which is fully refundable upon appearing for the first stage exam. Additionally, candidates are strictly required to verify their primary details against their Aadhaar card to ensure complete consistency with their 10th-grade certificates.
