West Central Railway has announced the regularization of nine pairs of special trains to significantly enhance connectivity at Itarsi railway station and across the Bhopal division. This major administrative decision by the Railway Board aims to eliminate special charges, resulting in approximately a 30 percent reduction in fares for reserved categories and improved punctuality for passengers traveling toward Northern and Southern India.
The regularized services bring permanent train numbers and scheduled stoppages for several key routes serving Madhya Pradesh and connecting regions. Key details of the regularized train services include:
– Rani Kamalapati-Agartala weekly express becomes regular train 11665/11666, starting October 22, 2026, from Rani Kamalapati and October 25, 2026, from Agartala, with a stop at Itarsi.
– Jabalpur-Coimbatore weekly superfast express transitions to new numbers 20160/20159, running from Jabalpur on Fridays starting October 23, 2026, and from Coimbatore on Mondays starting October 26, 2026, with stops at Narsinghpur, Gadarwara, Pipariya, Itarsi, and Harda.
– Charapalli-Gorakhpur Amrit Bharat Express is designated as numbers 22075/22076, stopping at Itarsi, Bhopal, and Bina starting October 2, 2026, from Charapalli and October 4, 2026, from Gorakhpur.
– Prayagraj-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (20436/20435) and Subedarganj-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (14121/14122) have been regularized with scheduled stops at Itarsi station.
Infrastructure Boost in Bhopal Division
To support this increased passenger and freight traffic, infrastructure development is moving forward rapidly in the region. Construction continues on the 237-kilometer Itarsi-Bhopal-Bina fourth railway line project, which carries a substantial valuation of ₹4329 crore. Once this massive engineering project reaches completion, it is expected to double train operations within the entire Bhopal division. This expansion will successfully accommodate up to 16 additional trains, further strengthening the Madhya Pradesh rail network and boosting the regional economy for daily commuters and long-distance travelers alike.
