Indian Railways is enhancing long-distance connectivity for passengers travelling between Gujarat and Bihar by introducing a new weekly Amrit Bharat Express service. This upcoming train will officially replace the existing Patna-Ahmedabad clone special train, offering modern facilities and a reliable schedule for regular commuters and pilgrims alike. Here are the key details you need to know about the new service:
The new Bhagalpur-Ahmedabad-Bhagalpur weekly Amrit Bharat Express will operate with train numbers 19423 and 19424. The train will feature a 22-coach configuration consisting of two LSLRD coaches, one pantry car, 11 general second-class coaches, and eight sleeper class coaches. The service is designed to significantly improve direct rail connectivity between Gujarat and important regional hubs including Bhagalpur, Jamalpur, Sultanganj, Kiul, Mokama, and Patna. According to Chief Public Relations Officer Saraswati Chandra, the service from Ahmedabad will commence on August 26, 2026, departing every Wednesday at 6:30 PM, while the service from Bhagalpur will start on August 28, 2026, departing every Friday at 4:45 PM.
Route and Operational Schedule
The train is scheduled to operate via a comprehensive route covering major stations such as Kiul, Mokama, Patna, DDU, Subedarganj, Tundla, Sawai Madhopur, Kota, Ratlam, and Chhayapuri.
For the outbound journey, the Ahmedabad-Bhagalpur service (19423) is scheduled to reach DDU at 9:13 PM Thursday, Buxar at 10:30 PM, Ara at 11:15 PM, and Danapur at 11:50 PM. It will subsequently arrive at Patna Junction at 12:43 AM Friday, Bakhtiyarpur at 1:25 AM, Mokama at 2:08 AM, Kiul at 3:30 AM, Abhaipur at 4:01 AM, Jamalpur at 4:30 AM, Sultanganj at 5:13 AM, and finally reach its destination at Bhagalpur at 6:40 AM.
For the return journey, the Bhagalpur-Ahmedabad service (19424) will depart from Bhagalpur at 4:45 PM, reaching Sultanganj at 5:03 PM, Jamalpur at 5:48 PM, Abhaipur at 6:13 PM, Kiul at 7:15 PM, Mokama at 7:56 PM, Bakhtiyarpur at 8:30 PM, Patna Junction at 9:58 PM, Danapur at 10:21 PM, Ara at 10:53 PM, and Buxar at 11:41 PM. Furthermore, the train is scheduled to reach DDU at 2:53 AM Saturday and successfully complete its journey at Ahmedabad at 5:25 AM Sunday.
