Indian Railways is set to launch a brand new weekly Amrit Bharat Express service connecting Ahmedabad and Bhagalpur to significantly strengthen rail connectivity between Bihar and Gujarat. This new train service officially replaces the existing 09447/09448 Ahmedabad-Patna-Ahmedabad clone special, which has now been successfully converted into the regular 19423/19424 Ahmedabad-Bhagalpur-Ahmedabad weekly Amrit Bharat Express. According to official announcements by Eastern Railway, this vital decision directly addresses the continuously growing passenger demand between the historic Silk City of Bhagalpur and the bustling industrial hub of Ahmedabad.

Passengers looking to travel on this route can note that ticket bookings for train number 19423 will officially commence on Friday, August 21, and will be available through all computerized Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters as well as the official IRCTC website and mobile app. The newly minted train service is officially scheduled to begin commercial operations starting August 26, 2026.

Train Schedule and Timings

Train number 19423 will depart from Ahmedabad every Wednesday at 6:30 PM, smoothly arriving at its destination in Bhagalpur at 6:40 AM on Friday, successfully covering the long distance in approximately 36 hours and 10 minutes. For the return journey, train number 19424 will depart from Bhagalpur every Friday at 4:45 PM starting August 28, 2026, eventually reaching Ahmedabad at 5:25 AM on Sunday with a total travel time of approximately 36 hours and 40 minutes.

Coach Composition and Speed

Designed specifically for budget-conscious travellers and long-distance commuters, the new Amrit Bharat Express will consist exclusively of general unreserved and sleeper class coaches. Delivering a modern yet affordable travel experience, the train is expected to operate smoothly at maximum speeds ranging from 110 to 130 kilometers per hour using push-pull technology for jerk-free acceleration.

Stoppages Across States

To ensure seamless connectivity across multiple states, the train has been provided with convenient halts at numerous key stations. In Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, scheduled stops include Anand, Chhayapuri, Godhra, Dahod, Ratlam, Bhawani Mandi, Ramganj Mandi, and Kota. Further ahead, the train halts at Sawai Madhopur, Gangapur City, Hindaun City, Bayana, Idgah Agra, Tundla, Govindpuri, and Subedarganj. Within the state of Bihar, the train will comfortably stop at Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction, Buxar, Ara, Danapur, Patna, Bakhtiyarpur, Mokama, Kiul, Abhaipur, Jamalpur, and Sultanganj, ensuring robust local connectivity for daily commuters and pilgrims alike.
